Veterinary medicine falls under the remit of the Ministry of Agriculture.
- Veterinary medicine is regulated by the Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons of the Czech Republic.
- Veterinarians in the Czech republic can use the title of Doctor.
Veterinary Specialist Recognition
European Veterinary Specialists and National Specialists can apply to be recognised as a Specialist by the Czech Veterinary Chamber. - National Specialisation has existed since the late 1990s.
Advanced Veterinary Practitioners
There are not formal training requirements for Advanced Veterinary Practitioner status. - However, there are some veterinarians who are recognised and approved as ophthalmologists or to read radiographs of joints in particular dog breeds.
Continuing education of veterinary general practitioners
Continuing education is not compulsory but is strongly recommended and supported.

Veterinary education
The University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno was founded in 1918. It currently has three faculties
- Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Hygiene and Ecology, and Faculty of Pharmacy.
Membership Organisations
The main membership organisations for veterinarians under the Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons of the Czech Republic are the Associations for Small Animals, Buiatrics, Equine, Porcine and other species that were founded at the end of the 1990s.
